The place is charming and the breakfast room is lovely. The breakfasts were more than ample.
The hotel is lovely and well-appointed and the location is ideal.
Friendly atmosphere, almost home from home comforts, excellent breakfast and afternoon coffee and cakes. Room furnishings superb, cleanliness superb. Excellent situation. Helpful staff.
thankful we had room at the back of the hotel overlooking the cemetary, as could be a bit noisy if rooms at the front in the height of the summer.
It was close to most tourist sights and a number of good eating places. The room was a good size and very clean. Breakfast was excellent. It was very wet during our stay and the hotel supplied large umbrellas each day.
The location is ideal! You have only to walk a short distance and immediately you can cross a bridge and be in the old town. Salsburg is a small city, but even with that...some locations are better than others. This hotel is ideally situated on a pedestrian street which adds to its charm. That being said...we thought that parking could be a problem, but when we arrived via car we soon discovered that a parking garage was just around the corner. We had a HUGE room that overlooked the street below that provided us with more than ample space for our three nights' stay. The breakfasts were WONDERFUL, with a wide assortment of fresh possibilities. The staff was pleasant and helpful!
We loved our stay there!!!
Excellent location, very friendly staff, close to old town Salzburg. the room was romantic and spacious. Parking was close to the hotel. And it was excellent value for money, especially given the room rate included a breakfast and it was a nice spread.
Old-style well-maintained hotel. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.
In absence of an on-the-spot car park, we had to carry our luggage from/to a public multi-story car park without lift, about 200 m from the hotel. With about 60 stairs in total to overcome (we were on 2nd floor) and a complicated access, it was a hard work indeed! Drunk & noisy people under the window on the pedestrian zone were annoying - much more so than the loud bells of the next door church.
Liked the hotel, especially location and staff. When we arrived, instead of chocolates on our pillow, we had a packet of ear plugs. One issue with any hotel in an old town area is the constant ringing of church bells. And if you have a front room, as we did, there was sometimes noise from the passing parade, especially if they had visited the bar over from the hotel. This just added to the atmosphere.
Our stay at the Altstadthotel Amedeus very enjoyable. The staff was friendly and always ready to help with any questions or requests. Recommendations by the staff for restaurants and sites had a local touch that made us feel welcome, got us away from the usual tourist scenes, and made us feel a part of the local community.
At first we thought our room on the Linzergasser side of the hotel would be a problem with the noise. (The hotel does provide earplugs.) There were a couple of late night loud party revelers, but we actually found the sounds from the street and the bells to be a wonderful part of Salzburg.
Got a good rate, breakfast was very nice. The room was spacious with a real old world feel.
Could get noisy being on the main street and as no fan in the room if you could not open the window got stuffy. However they did give you earplugs not a big deal.
Staff most helpful, convenient to everywhere we wanted to visit
Nobody on the premises at night. My key failed to work and only I had my phone and was able to text my wife --who had gone to bed early----i have no idea how I would have got in to the hotel . this was at 11.00pm.. A bit scary
All staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient and attended to any requests promptly. Room was quiet, and a very satisfying buffet breakfast in a pleasant breakfast room. Afternoon tea available for anyone wishing it. Lift services all floors. An excellent location to both new and old towns.
There was a dog in an adjacant room that whinged when it was left alone, but was perfectly quiet when its owners were present. And maintenance in the room was not perfect: safe had to be reset (battery flat), shower head only operable at a lower level, no plug in handbasin (grill had been removed), and bed light only operable with a fragment of cord.
Breakfast with wide variety of choice. The reception gentleman is very helpful - proactively ask us to take their umbrella when it's showering and arrange taxi service to the station after check out. Location is good, near the city centre and in the shopping streets. To the station, about 20 min on foot. Or by taxi, it costs about 8 euro only
Our room view is cemetery.
Great service and great breakfast! The history of the building itself is fasinating. Loved it!
I loved the size of the room .the location was perfect .the staff were brilliant and the breakfast could not be better.
The rooms were beautiful - a good size and layout with lovely decor and very clean. Super staircase! Very yummy breakfasts - I couldn't get over the selection of delicious breads! The staff were all very helpful and efficient.
The rooms a little too warm at nights and found ourselves opening the window in the middle of winter, which seemed shameful! A few more teabags and milk in the room would have been very welcome - the English are great tea drinkers and get withdrawal symptoms pretty rapidly!
